Graphics 58 - exhibition about uniting nations

Graphic art and architecture formed a special alliance for Expo 58. They were married in many façades and interiors of pavilions to catch the eye of the visitors. In addition to that, various graphic techniques were used to explain the pavilions’ architecture and exhibitions too. Educational images, posters, flyers, and guides all created the exhibition’s identifiable style.

The variety of countries and cultures involved made it complicated to achieve a coherent visual identity. Hence, the organizers hired local and foreign artists to collaborate on the logo, typography and graphic art for the fair. As a result the campaigns offer an exemplary sample of Fifties-style graphic art.
