Lior Gal's Powerful Exhibition: "Distant Light"

28.02.2019 - Editorial

From 15 March – 4 May 2019 the Hangar Art Center Gallery in Brussels will have the pleasure to host the exhibition « Distant Light » of the phenomenal photographer and visual artist Lior Gal. He composes poetic landscapes that disturb our perception of gravity and space-time. His large analogous formats, black and white, are developed and bond together manually by the artist and do not undergo any digital post-production.

Lior Gal's Powerful Exhibition: "Distant Light"

The deserted and almost science-fiction worlds of Lior Gal are surprisingly sensitive. His land-based natural objects which unite in science-fiction are almost futuristic constructions. This shows the contrast in his process of creating images: the use of vintage cameras, analog photography, darkroom development, avoiding any form of digital- and post-production.

Lior Gal does not see nature as a whole but as singular fragment that he records, through photography, then juxtaposes, by collage, to create a different image, outside the real world. He manages to evoke the paradoxical sensation of being in the familiar and the unknown at the same time. This technique and the immediate sensitivity of his images make his work so surprising and powerful.
