BOZAR ELECTRONIC ARTS FESTIVAL

It has been six years since the first edition and yet the multidisciplinary BOZAR Electronic Arts Festival is not anywhere near petering out. This year again, from September 14 to 30, the festival will occupy every corner of the Centre For Fine Arts, presenting the broadest possible view of the electronic arts.

This year, the festival is pleased to welcome Jóhann Jóhannsson, as its musical headliner. The minimalist composer’s work on the soundtrack for The Theory of Everything rewarded him with a nominations to the Oscar’s and awarded him with a Golden Globe. But he is also the man behind Sicario, the upcoming Mother! and Blade Runner’s soundtrack.

The weekend from the 26 to 30.09 will be be a particularly eclectic musical one, with Australian composer and sound engineer Ben Frost presenting his new album and American composer William Basinski offers his emotional tribute to David Bowie for the first time on Belgian Soil. 20 years after het last album, Japanese queen of avant-garde, Phew, plays her new one and Pantha du Prince, producer and shoegazer, puts on an exclusive show. The Horta Hall will also see the performance of SpaceTime Helix, with her own opto-acoustic instrument designed and made by Michaela Pelusio.

This year’s edition will also unveil the winners of the international innovation competition, STARTS Prize 2017, and their installations. Six Belgian artists tackling science and technology in the Tendencies exhibition, Estonian artists showing and astonishing selection on digital video art in The Archeology of the Screen and much more are to be seen during the BOZAR Electronic Arts Festival.

When ? From 14 to 30.09.2017. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Thursday and concert evenings the exhibitions are open until 9 p.m.
